XIA offers both host software and driver support for the XMAP

  • ProSpect is a full featured Windows application, available to all DXP users (pictured below).
  • xManager is a legacy Windows application, available to all DXP-XMAP users.
  • The Handel driver libraries are available to users who wish to use their own software to acquire data. The goal is to provide an interface to the DXP hardware in spectroscopic units (eV, microseconds, etc…) while still allowing for safe, direct-access to the DSP.

Driver Libraries: Handel

Handel is a high-level device driver that provides an interface to the hardware in spectroscopic units (eV, microseconds, etc…) while still allowing for safe, direct-access to the DSP. Additionally, Handel only requires a single configuration file in order to start the system. The trade-off for this ease of use is an increase in size. At a minimum, Handel requires 5 libraries to operate with a single product. For more information, please consult the Handel API or contact us at support@xia.com.

xManager – XMAP Configuration and Data Acquisition Software for Windows

Get the latest xManager Release
xManager releases are now available via the XIA Wiki Release page.

xManager is a standalone application that runs on the Handel Driver and is used to control the XMAP. xManager gives the user a complete interface for data acquisition, instrument configuration, run control, diagnostics, a Gaussian fitting algorithm and multiple ROI selection. Data can be exported to third party analysis tools.

Configuration

  • Digital filter settings, e.g. Peaking Time, Thresholds, etc.
  • Detector/preamplifier settings
  • Dynamic range/system gain control
  • MCA format (number of bins, bin granularity…etc.)

Data Acquisition

  • Single MCA for normal spectroscopy
  • Multiple MCA for x-ray mapping applications
  • Preset-real-time run, preset-live-time run, preset counts or infinite run.

Analysis and Statistics

  • Output statistics: ICR, OCR, realtime and livetime
  • Gaussian fits to MCA spectrum
  • Export spectra for additional analysis

Diagnostics

  • Digital oscilloscope for viewing ADC and filter outputs
  • Baseline histogram and history displays

Currently Handel libraries for the XMAP are bundled with xManager installation. In the future these libraries will be available separately.
