We specialize in developing and manufacturing processing electronics for x-ray and gamma-ray detectors, which we sell world-wide both on an OEM basis to major manufacturers and as specialty instruments to national research laboratories. Job Description:
The successful candidate will wear several hats, being responsible for a mixture of regular duties and special projects.

Initial regular duties will include: handling monthly high-level accounting entries, designing and implementing effective financial processes in Quickbooks; developing documentation to guide less skilled staff in using these processes; providing regular cost/progress reports to Principal Investigators and Development Managers; responding to government reporting requirements; developing cost projections for proposed changes in company policies; carrying out any non-routine accounting tasks; and dealing with any special situations that may arise in the general areas of finance, accounting, or personnel.

Some initial projects include: developing an employee time reporting system to integrate with Quickbooks; and, working with providers to institute an improved but cost effective employee benefit package.

The colleagues with whom you will work to establish your specific short and longer term goals will be the VP of Engineering, the Production Manager, and the Director of Research. In the longer term, as you and the company grow, we would expect you to focus on a subset of these responsibilities, but at a higher level, for example as Finance Director.

Requirements:

• Solid accounting background
• Strong Quickbooks experience, including report generation.
• Experience using Excel to import, export and analyze Quickbooks data.
  (Experience using Visual Basic to automate Excel analyses would be a plus.)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain clearly,
  write well, and remain cheerful in the face of unexpected problems.
• Strong problem analysis skills
  (particularly the ability to anticipate and design to preclude workflow problems.)
• A commitment to long term professional growth.
• Experience with the requirements of US Government grant accounting a major plus.
• TurboTax experience filing annual US 1065 and CA 568 returns also a major plus.
