Job Description:
As a successful candidate, you will take a leading role in the design, development, and support of complex, FPGA and DSP based scientific instruments, both for commercial sale and to support our in-house R&D projects. Following XIA's preferred model, you will be encouraged to become a stakeholder in the instruments you work with and be significantly involved in all phases of their life cycle, from design concept through production, testing, and customer support. Your job responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: design at both the instrument and circuit levels, schematic design entry, PCB layout, electronics parts research, parts library maintenance, firmware development (DSP, Microcontroller and FPGA), as well as design testing and verification. You will work in a team environment with significant interaction with other engineer, programmers, and research scientists.

Requirements:

• Strong digital design skills; analog design skills a plus.
• Experience with schematic entry (ORCAD preferred)
• PCB layout experience (ORCAD preferred)
• Strong organizational skills to support maintenance of design libraries.
• Strong hardware debugging experience.
• DSP/FPGA/Microcontroller coding experience a significant plus.
• Experience and/or interest in x-ray and gamma-ray science a plus.
• Strong verbal and writing communication skills and ability to work well within a team
• BSEE or MSEE with 2+ years of experience

Tools:

• ORCAD (Capture, Layout, CIS Database)
• SPICE
• Host programming a plus: C/C++/C#/Visual Basic/IGOR
• Verilog/VisualDSP/PIC experience a plus
